One day Jesus was hungry and seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves He went to see if He would find something to eat. Coming to it He found nothing but leaves, and in response He said, “Let no one eat fruit from you ever again.†You see the tree must have said something for Jesus to reply. So now the following morning as they passed by they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots, and Peter remembering said to Him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which you cursed has withered away.†So what did Jesus do to the tree for it to dry up? Peter said that He cursed it. How did he curse the tree? He spoke negative words against it.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV)
Oh yes you have the power to create life or destroy it. The survival of the fig tree was on Jesus’s tongue. Had He chosen to speak positive words of blessing to the tree it would have lived because death and life were in the power of His tongue. You have the power to speak life in the dead situations that ought to be alive, and you also have the power to speak death to living things that need to be dead. You have the power to bless that business, family, job or anything to be the way it ought to be, and you also have the power to curse that sickness or negative situations to die in your life. So how do you do that? You speak positive words to the things you want to create and negative things to the things you want to destroy. By the way if you’re not a wise person you can also kill the good things in your life by speaking negatively against them.
The next time sickness or whatever problem comes knocking your door attack it by speaking negatively to it. Command it to leave your house or the temple where you live in Jesus’ name. You see you can’t really control the people who knock on your door but you can control the people you allow in. The next time the devil knocks your door with a problem refuse to let him in. When malaria symptoms show up in your body say something like this, “Malaria you will not prosper in this body in Jesus’ name.†You see the devil is just like a mailman who goes knocking every door and if you have any mail you sign for it and receive it. If the mailman came to your house and you found that you have no portion in the mails you wouldn’t sign, would you?
Now when the devil delivers a package to your door you don’t have to take it either. Remember death and life are in the power of the tongue. So when you speak positively about sickness you give it the ability to prosper in your body. The symptoms may be there but refuse to talk about how much you fear the sickness or how much dangerous it is. Refuse even to think on those lines. You sign for things delivered in your life through words. If you speak for them they prosper, if you speak against them they die. Don’t speak for sickness, speak for healing. Matthew 8:17 says that Christ Jesus took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. That means that you don’t have a portion in that package, so refuse to sign for it. “The Lord Jesus bore my sicknesses, so malaria (or whatever disease) you will not prosper in my body. I command you to die now in Jesus’ name.â€
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
Isaiah 54:17 (KJV)
If you're like me you must be very excited to hear this verse, especially the first part. Did you ever notice we don't have a full stop after the word prosper? Now the second part is very much connected to the first part, and it says that every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. Yes, it is yours to condemn every tongue that rises against you. How do you condemn something or someone? You condemn using words! You speak negative words. Actually to condemn is to sentence someone to a punishment especially death. Remember death and life are in the power of the tongue. So when you condemn you are invoking the death of every tongue that rises against you in judgment.
When the Lord Jesus walked to that tree it must have said something against Him, for the word of God says that Jesus answered and said unto the tree, “No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever.†How could Jesus answer or replied unless the tree had said something to Him? While we do not know exactly what the tree said to Jesus, we do know that it must not have been something pleasant for He condemned it. Now, life is full of barren fig trees that keep on telling you this thing or that thing. Your fig tree might be a sickness that has told you that you’re going to die or a loss of job. You don’t have to agree with whatever that situation is saying, condemn that tongue and deny it the power to prosper in your life for this is your heritage in the Lord.
Never ever agree to have something that is not from God. Watch out what you promote in your life. That which you speak for shall prosper in your life and that which you condemn shall die. Are you of the group that says “I will never amount to anything in life?†Quit talking like that! Start confessing your victory over every negative circumstance and gradually you will begin to see these things come to pass in your life. Remember the fig tree didn’t show any signs of withering immediately but when they passed by the following day it had dried from the root. That’s what happens to the tongues that rises against you when you condemn them: they dry from the roots. Condemn that sickness and watch it dry from the roots.
